Socioeconomic and Participation Impact Data for Employees of Democratic Workplaces

 

The Democracy at Work Institute, in partnership with the U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives, teamed up with researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to conduct the first national survey of individual cooperative employees and worker-owners. This census data illustrates the experiences of individual workers of democratic workplaces across the United States. 

 

This major, one-time study covering 82 businesses and 1,147 individuals provides baseline data, for a high-quality picture of the workplace experiences and needs of cooperative employees and worker-owners through the lens of economic and social factors, as well as worker participation in the governance of the business.
